Asthma appointments: Our asthma patients are looked after by our specially trained nursees.
Cervical smears: All women aged between 25 and 64 are invited for cervical screening. Women aged between 25 and 49 are invited for testing every three years, and women aged between 50 and 64 are invited every five years
You will be sent an invitation to attend when your smear is due.
Childhood immunisations: We recommend all children should be fully protected. The health visitors, practice nurses or the doctors can advise you.
Diabetic appointments: Our diabetic patients are looked after by our specially trained nurses.
Family planning: Our practice nurses and doctors will advise you on the best method of contraception for you. We provide a full range of family planning services.
Flu and pneumonia: We offer immunisations to all patients over 65 and those who are eligable for example those who have a chronic condition. Carers are also eligible though those who are employed by nursing homes, should ask their employer for their flu jab.
Foreign travel: Please plan ahead when you are travelling abroad and book a travel appointment if you think you might need travel vaccinations. Our travel service is delivered on the ground floor with our specialist travel partner MASTA (Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad). We provide a full travel service including both NHS and non NHS travel vaccinations.
Hepatitis B: This is free for some people, including those in risk occupations.
Maternity services: Please call for an appointment at approximately six weeks after your last period. We do not routinely do pregnancy tests to confirm your own test.
Minor surgery: Many surgical procedures can be performed, and warts treated, at the surgery. Please be aware we are subject to the NHS cosmetic exclusion policy which means we cannot undertake surgery for purely cosmetic reasons.
NHS Health Checks: The NHS Health Check is a sophisticated check of your heart health. It is aimed at adults in England aged 40 to 74, it checks your vascular or circulatory health and works out your risk of developing some of the most disabling, but preventable, illnesses. You'll be invited for an NHS Health Check every five years if you are between 40 and 74 years old, as long as you don't have an existing vascular condition.
Patients with a chronic disease: We actively recall patients who have a chronic disease. This is usually in their birth month.
Teenagers: Teenagers have special worries and risks. The doctors and nurses are all pleased to discuss them at any appointment. Your confidentiality will be respected. Teenagers can be seen without their parents’ knowledge.
Tetanus prevention: The objective of the immunisation programme is to provide a minimum of five doses of tetanus-containing vaccine at appropriate intervals for all individuals. For the majority of cases, a total of five doses of vaccine at the appropriate intervals is considered to give satisfactory long-term protection.
Weight/smoking/alcohol/drug/ problems: These are all important to your health. The doctors and nurses are all happy to discuss these with you at any appointment.
East Parade Surgery and a number of other local GP practices have partnered with MASTA (Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad) to provide a specialist Travel Health service for our patients and patients in Harrogate, Knaresborough and the surrounding area.
The Travel Clinic is an accessible, expert service located on the ground floor of the Mowbray Square Medical Centre, Mowbray Square, Harrogate, HG1 5AR. Vaccines available free of charge on the NHS will remain free of charge*. Non NHS vaccines that were charged privately previously, will continue to be charged privately.
