Planned merger between East Parade Surgery and Park Parade Surgery
East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries – Merger Update – July 2024
Partners from East Parade and Park Parade GP surgeries announced in March that both practices are going to merge and in May we let you know that the new practice will be called Strayside Health.
We initially stated October would be the date for the merger. However, the background work we’ve done so far has identified we need to move the merger date to April 2025.
We want to ensure that our merger is streamlined so that our patients and staff are confident that the new practice’s systems and processes are robust and that the transition is as smooth as possible. In order to do that, we need to refine our current systems to get the new practice set up in the right way.
Some excellent work is already underway, and we are continuing our merger preparation work with our GPs and other staff teams.
We’re really grateful for the input, enthusiasm and positivity of our staff and patients so far, and we want to continue to harness that as we go forward. We’ll keep you updated regularly on our Facebook pages and practice websites.
Our current patients don’t need to do anything, and all patients will transfer to Strayside Health when the merger happens. We hope patients will wish to remain registered with our new practice, but if you wish to change, you should explore your choices based on your address and the catchment areas of the local practices.
We are really looking forward to working together as our new practice – Strayside Health.

East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries – Merger Update – April 2024
In March, the Partners and Practice Managers from East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries announced that the two practices plan to merge in October 2024. We said that we would provide regular updates as we work towards becoming one practice.
During March and April, the Partners and Managers have met with our fantastic staff team to answer their questions and to get them involved as we develop our joint ways of working within all areas of the new practice.
Patients and staff have given feedback, and have submitted lots of suggestions for a possible new name for the practice. A shortlist of names will be drawn up and the final decision will be made by a staff vote!
Practice websites will continue to be updated monthly through the year with the latest news.

MAY 2024 UPDATE
Announcement – new practice name
In March, the Partners and Practice Managers from East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries announced that the two practices plan to merge in October 2024.
Our new practice requires a new name and we asked both patients and our staff teams for ideas. This generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm and we received many great suggestions. Thank you to all of our staff and patients who proposed possible practice names!
After a staff vote we can now announce the name of the new merged practice which will take effect from October. The new practice will be known as “Strayside Health”, reflecting our proximity to the beautiful and unique green space on our doorstep.
Until October the current practices will keep their individual names, East Parade and Park Parade Surgeries.
Practice websites will continue to be updated regularly through the year with the latest news on the merger.

The Partners of East Parade Surgery and Park Parade Surgery would like to inform you of the planned merger between the two surgeries.
As you may be aware, the two surgeries already work on the same floor of Mowbray Square Medical Centre in Harrogate. We work closely together and share several teams and services. The Partners believe that creating a single, larger practice will allow us to pool the skills of our wonderful team members to create a truly sustainable organisation that is equipped to survive and thrive in the NHS of the future.
We believe in continuity of care and the people you already know will be part of the new surgery. There will also be the choice for you to see clinicians from across a larger team.
The planned merger will take place in early October 2024. Before the merger date East and Park Parade Surgeries will be working hard to align their systems so that we have a smooth transition.
We hope you will wish to remain registered with our new GP surgery. You do not need to do anything; your current registration will transfer to the new surgery. If you wish to change your GP surgery, you should explore your choices based on your address and the catchment areas of the local surgeries.
We are working together with our local health authority, Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, on our merger.
