Flu Info 2024
Posted on:
- Clinics this year have been scheduled for Saturday 5th October 2024, 12th October 2024 and 19th October 2024. NHS England advised that surgeries and pharmacies could not vaccinate before October this year.
- We get fabulous feedback from patients every year after attending one of our clinics. The clinics run smoothly and patients never have to wait long from when they arrive, before being vaccinated.
- Covid vaccinations are still booked by contacting 119 – we will not be doing these as part of our flu clinics.
- Invitations for your flu vaccination will be going out on 2nd Sep. These will be sent via your preferred contact method.
- If you book via a booking link you will get a reminder message 1 week before and the day before your appointment. If you need to cancel, you can use the link in that message.
- If you have cancelled your appointment through a booking link, you don’t need to call to rebook, we will send another booking link within a few weeks.
- Our flu line will be available for a limited time only and is provided for patients who cannot access the internet to use booking links. Patients who do not have internet access or smart phones will be contacted with details of the flu line. If you can use a booking link, please do so.
- The flu line is operated centrally for the practices at Mowbray Square, so operators will be unable to help with other queries about your medical record or health queries.
- If you are known to the practice as being housebound, we will contact you to arrange a visit, you do not need to call us.
- The injected flu vaccines used in the UK do not contain live flu viruses. The vaccine cannot give you flu.
- The vaccine usually takes up to 14 days to work. There’s still a chance you might get flu after getting vaccinated, but because of the vaccine it’s likely to be milder and not last as long.
